The Theological Faculty is committed to the continuous improvement and assurance of the quality of its research and teaching. It is guided by the University of Bern’s quality strategy, and in particular by the university-wide QSE (Quality, Strategy, and Evaluation) guidelines for the university’s core tasks: teaching, research, continuing education, and services.
In accordance with the university-wide guidelines, the Theological Faculty has developed faculty-specific guidelines for QSE work to ensure and continuously improve the quality of its research and teaching. These guidelines contain concrete provisions for the evaluation of courses, assessments, and research. Additionally, program evaluations are conducted at regular intervals, and their results feed into curriculum revisions.
QSE work at the Theological Faculty follows the principle that evaluations are designed and analyzed where the measures to ensure and improve quality are decided and implemented. That is: course evaluations are handled by the instructors, research evaluations by the research units, assessment evaluations by the Faculty Examination Board (FPA), and program evaluations by the Commission for Studies and Teaching (KStuL).
In the planning and technical implementation of evaluations, the faculty QSE office supports the responsible individuals or units. This principle aims to make quality feedback loops effective and to implement immediate and concrete follow-up actions based on the collected evaluation data.
